In LUKE 4:18-19 Jesus shares with us the way of life He calls us to as His followers. At 2nd Street we refer to these verses as The Jesus Manifesto.

18 THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD IS UPON ME,

BECAUSE HE ANOINTED ME TO PREACH THE

GOSPEL TO THE POOR. HE HAS SENT ME TO

PROCLAIM RELEASE TO THE CAPTIVES, AND

RECOVERY OF SIGHT TO THE BLIND, TO SET

FREE THOSE WHO ARE OPPRESSED,

19 TO PROCLAIM THE FAVORABLE YEAR OF THE LORD.

Jesus was on a mission, and He challenges us as His followers to live

"missionally" in this world ... and to live with hearts bent toward

understanding how we're to live out The Jesus Manifesto in ways

big and obvious, as well as in ways small and barely noticeable.
